Frontenac Blanc

This is the newest member of the Frontenac family, discovered in 2006. Just like the family of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Blanc, another mutation of Frontenac has been found. Frontenac Blanc is virtually identical to Frontenac in cluster, growth habit, and winter hardiness. Berries are yellow to gold when ripe, producing a very light straw colored wine. Ripens late mid-season, with moderate to high acidity. The first wine samples of Frontenac Blanc were quite good; reminiscent of Riesling with a bit of Gew├╝rztraminer-like spiciness.
